The Swim Meet at Nanaimo Aquatic Centre has moved from December 11th to December 18th, so I need to move the class from the 18th back to the 11th. I will update the website.
Sunday classes will not run on Dec 18 but will run on Dec 11 instead. This will make Dec 11 the final class for Sundays. If anyone can't make the class or has any other problems, please contact me.

Sincerely,
Mark Charke

There were a couple of typos on the classes. The Red Cross Swim Kids 4 and the Pre-Teen Class starting on November 1st were listed as M-W incorrectly. They are Tuesday and Thursday classes. I have corrected the description!

This November and December Charke Swim is offering a few new courses and here some some answers to what level you should be registering in.

RED CROSS SWIM KIDS
Level 1 -This is the introductory level. You should be 5 years old. There are two main elements for RC1; Learning to put your face in the water and blow bubbles and Learning to swim 5 meters comfortably.
Level 2 - You should be able to swim 5 meters and go underwater and blow bubbles comfortably to enter this level.
Level 3 - You should be able to swim 10 meters to enter this level. This requires learning how to roll to the side and breath.
Level 4 - You should be able to swim 15 meters and tread water for 20 seconds. You should be very comfortable going underwater and able to swim on your front and back and use your big arms for Front Swim.
Level 5 - You should be able to swim 25 meters and tread water for 45 seconds. You should be able to swim on your front and back with big arms.
Level 6 - You should be able to swim 50 meters and treat water for 1 minute. You should be able to swim Front and Back Crawl and have the basics for Breast Stroke. Swim Basics 1 (Adult/Teen) - You should be 13+ years old and a beginner at swimming. This class is taught in shallow water. Swim Basics 2 (Adult/Teen) - You should be 13+ years old and be able to swim in deep water. This class focuses on stroke improvement, distance, diving, treading and other deep water activities. Pre-Teen - This is a new class for 7-12 year olds who are beginners and need to learn levels 1, 2 and 3. This is a catch up course for people who were not able to swim during covid.

Where can I get evaluated? The lifeguards at Beban Park Pool and the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre can evaluate your level during public swim. This is good because if you are in a level outside of what Charke Swim currently offers, you can ask them about signing up for city lessons.
